Quantica Alpha 1.2 released!

December 14, 2007 Thank you to all who provided input and suggestions to the Alpha 1.1 release. It has been a busy year for us, but we are excited to announce the release the Alpha 1.2 testing platform of Quantica! This is a more stable release compared to its predecessor with an improved installation interface, robust charting, additional pricing functionality. However, as this is a testing platform, a number of the features which we have put in place have been disabled for this release.Adding to the core 1.1 release are a few more pricing models to give users a better feel for what they can expect in the final release. A powerful charting tool has been implemented as a sampler to the forthcoming dynamic 3-dimensional charting tool and integrated risk management system which is currently in development.A brief overview of Quantica can be found by at this page (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=5 Itemid=6). The Alpha 1.2 release platform can be found in the downloads (downloads) section. We are very excited with the developments planned for 2008 and look forward to releasing a Beta release around the end of 1Q 2008 and a RC release shortly afer that.

Welcome to Quantica

With derivative products becoming more complex by the day, black-box systems have proven to be ineffective and non-tractable for managing large portfolios; sometimes requiring months of work and a team of professionals to modify and integrate the software into their own internal systems. Quantica is a live derivatives pricing systems with a combination of features which make it unique. An open source code feature allows end users to look behind the hood of their option pricing model and even add their own pricing models or components. This provides full transparancy and flexibility for risk managers, traders, academics and other even students to scrutinise and modify models if they choose to. Grid computing is made available to computationally intensive tasks such as monte carlo simulation, numerical analysis and portfolio wide risk assessment. Advanced features such as fully dynamic graphing functions, cross-platform support and implementation of other recent developments in quantitative finance will be added with subsequent releases. The objective is to provide an easy to use software which can be used at little cost for students, academics or those simply looking to learn about derivative products, up to the more demanding users such as traders, quantitative researchers, portfolio managers and the like to manage entire portfolios. Quantica is currently in alpha testing stage. The base deployment contains the core package of option pricing algorithms; however, a number of features have been disabled for continuous testing and development. A beta release is expected towards 3Q/4Q 2007.
